Updated** As I've read the owner's response below and feel it is very sincere, considerate and wholehearted, I've adjusted the review's service rating to 3. With this in mind, I've adjusted the overall rating to the new average of 3.
I'll visit Twilight in the future again and provide a final update on the below experience and review.
As I frequent Eaton Centre, I like to try nearby restaurants for a quick snack.
This place has a lot of positive reviews and to be forthcoming, I solely came here for a snack.
With that said, the service was not great and the food, was not great either.
Service, when I arrived, they said they had reservations and only available seating at the window. I'm not sure why they would sit anyone there, the doors are right there and it is freezing. I sat there looking at the menu and do appreciate, they moved me to a table after probably noticing this and them coming back to me for my order.
The food, I spoke with the staff and asked to try their menu options made in-house for a fair review.
I ordered:
1. Twilight ClubHouse Burger
2. Taiwanese Fried Chicken
3. Sangria
4. Americano
Twilight ClubHouse Burger
It's 12 dollars for solely the burger and it came out cold. Not freezing, but cold, and the meat for the burger, tasted like mush, it was honestly awful. Even the bacon, cold. I could not stomach it. To be fair, I do not ask ever in a restaurant to comp any food. It's completely understandable people can make mistakes and usually restaurants will happily just replace it. They didn't ask to replace it though, they just comped it and the staff did apologise, so I appreciate the understanding. It could've been a bad circumstance, but based on trying the burger given, I would not recommend it. Especially since I did want to eat it, I left the cafe very hungry.
So, if you receive it and it tastes similarly, you are not alone and I would strongly advocate to have it replaced with hot food.
Taiwanese Fried Chicken
This came out fresh. It costs about 13 dollars. Now I'm not a fan of dark meat, but for a snack and being truthfully honest, it was tasty. It comes with a bit of salad garnish and a little side dish of sauce. I did enjoy the amount I did eat but the little dish of sauce is sincerely little, as you get a whole bowl of chicken. I asked for a bit of sauce and after waiting 15 minutes, the fried chicken was cold so I went to find the waitress and ask for the bill.
So the fried chicken I would say is a good option but even with the buzzer at the table, the table service isn't great.
Sangria
A glass is $13. The sangria for a board game cafe was decent. Lots of fruit, not fancy but a great drink. It's fun and I'd say an OK choice if you're grabbing a quick drink at the cafe.
Americano
Not great. Cost $4. If you look at the pictures, you can see the leftover grinds at the top of the cup. I do not recommend it.
Conclusion
The Twilight Fried Chicken is a tasty snack at this cafe but I would recommend asking for a bit of extra sauce when you order, as the wait staff claimed today was busy, but it's a Tuesday night, there were empty tables, and it was just a little sauce.
I was happy to try their items but for the price and quality, even for a snack, I wouldn't recommend it. It's likely, an okay option, if you're deep into a board game needing a snack, but for the price and quality, I sincerely hope the staff don't take advantage of others while playing, as of course this is the most viable option for people playing, but in terms of a cafe, I would not come back.
