TLDR- great place with good staff and a cool gimmick. Food is good,a typical diner style for comfort foods. Breakfast is my fave thing to get here. Will be going here for breakfast again soon. Mel's diner has always been a great place to go for breakfast with my friends. A close 30 minute walk or a short 6 minute ish drive from my apartment. Another well established place with a theme most places have abandoned in today's age. As an individual I love consistency especially since I used to work in the culinary and food service industry and time and time again they have more than satisfied with smiles and decent food. Service has always been stellar though it does get very busy. If you come while a rush is on don't get discouraged. My friends and I have turned around and gone somewhere else relaxing that it was a very hot spot some days and evenings and we always come back on another day when that happens. Breakfasts are large and I think well priced. If you are looking for a diner that has good comfort food the. Mel's has got you covered.

Cute spot with a lot of food options for all times of the day. Saw someone try the giant burger challenge and I’m inspired to try it one day. Our group got the mojo bowl, the homemade soup, a sandwich, and the milkshake. Food was good but the waitress really made our day!

Usually very crowded with university students, music sometimes a bit too loud so cannot hear conversation. Food overall is good, only one time their meat loaf was barely warm. My go to is the turkey club, home fries and a side of gravy.

It’s an old school diner with one of kind decor and seats. Takes you back to those 80’s movie. Wonderful service and bottomless coffee. We have a fixed order of coffee, French skillet with side of hollandaise and beans. Tbh hollandaise sauce here is to die for. And it’s one of my favourite breakfast place in Waterloo.

I went to Mel’s Diner for breakfast. The food overall was good, and I especially loved the turkey sausages. However, I was really disappointed with the beans and mashed potatoes. They were chunky, bland, and just not up to the mark. The place has a nice vibe, but I’d skip the sides next time and stick to the breakfast items.
