KG Resto & Bar is without a doubt the best restaurant in Oshawa. Nothing in the area even comes close to the quality, flavour, and overall experience you get here. I live in Scarborough and I still choose to drive all the way to Oshawa just to eat at KG, and that should tell you everything you need to know. In fact, I have already been here twice in the same week because the first visit was so good that I had to come back. Both times were amazing.
When you walk in, the atmosphere immediately stands out. The place feels warm, inviting, and comfortable. It is clean, the lighting is perfect, the music fits the vibe, and the whole space feels like somewhere you can actually relax and enjoy your meal. It has that hidden gem energy where you instantly realize you found a spot that most people don’t even know is this good.
And then there is Kavin. The atmosphere is already great, but Kavin takes the entire experience to another level. I am not exaggerating when I say he is one of the best servers I have ever had anywhere. His service is so good that he alone makes the visit memorable. He has this natural friendliness and professionalism that you just do not see often. His energy is positive, he is extremely attentive, and he genuinely cares about making sure your experience is perfect.
Both times I visited this week, Kavin was consistent. He never misses. He checks in at the right moments, he remembers details from your order, he explains the menu clearly, and he operates with the kind of confidence and precision that makes the whole restaurant feel elevated. Your drinks stay filled without having to ask. Napkins, cutlery, condiments, everything you could need appears right before you realize you need it. It is almost like he reads the table and anticipates what you want. Service like that is rare. Kavin is a huge part of why KG feels like a top tier dining experience.
Now let’s talk about the food because the chef deserves just as much praise. I ordered the wings, the jerk chicken poutine, the chicken bacon quesadilla, and the creamy chicken penne pasta. Every single dish was packed with flavour, seasoned properly, and cooked with real skill. The wings were juicy and perfectly sauced. The jerk chicken poutine was unbelievable with crispy fries, deep flavour in the gravy, perfect jerk seasoning, and fresh toppings. The chicken bacon quesadilla was loaded with cheese and filling and grilled to perfection. The creamy chicken penne pasta tasted like something from a high end spot with how rich, smooth, and perfectly seasoned it was.
You can tell the chef actually knows what he is doing. The flavours are immaculate. Nothing is bland, nothing is rushed, and nothing tastes generic. Every plate feels intentional. Consistency like this does not happen by accident. It is clear there is real passion and technique going into the food.
KG Resto & Bar has now become my go to spot in Oshawa. Between the amazing atmosphere, the outstanding food, and especially the next level service from Kavin, this restaurant stands way above anything else in the city. The fact that I have already been here twice in the same week says everything. It is more than worth the drive from Scarborough and genuinely one of the best dining experiences you can get.
