We had Afternoon Tea. We enjoyed the delicous & aromatic tea: Heavenly Cream & Jasmine Snow Dragon. Good variety of sandwiches & desserts. They tasted fresh & delicious, especially the sandwiches. Loved the ambiance & decor of the restaurant. Salim our server is very professional, patient, and service with a smile.

Essence Unionville, located inside the Hilton Toronto Markham, is a fantastic place to dine. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. The food was outstanding—especially the lobster riquetti. It had far more lobster than I expected, and the dish was absolutely delicious. The truffle risotto was superb—rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Overall, this is a great place to eat while in Markham. The atmosphere is very romantic, making it ideal for a date night or special evening out. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, Essence of Unionville did not live up to expectations at all. The service was extremely slow, with long waits and very little attention throughout the meal. The food was the biggest letdown. The Chilean sea bass came out swimming in a watery, odd-tasting fish broth that lacked any real flavour. Portions overall were surprisingly small for the price. The steak frites was dry and overcooked, and both the calamari and cauliflower were also dry and unappetizing. For a restaurant that presents itself as upscale, the execution was nowhere near acceptable. Between the slow service and poorly prepared dishes, this was a very disappointing dining experience and not one I’d recommend.

We had a wonderful afternoon tea experience. The derive and food were easily comparable to what you’d find at the well known downtown hotels, just a more relaxed atmosphere. The option to choose our sandwiches was a lovely touch, everything was delicious and then even accommodated vegetarian preferences with a few off menu surprises. The modern dish ware was a nice touch. Our server Barbara was incredibly attentive. The scones with cherry jam were perfect!

Come check out this restaurant tucked away inside the Hilton hotel. Memorable food experience here! Feeling for a nice bowl of delicious tasting onion soup? Then come here to tantalize your taste buds. I'm choosing to only review my onion soup experience, since I call myself an onion soup connoisseur and love when I get a great tasting onion soup. The soup I got from here hit the spot! I'm still thinking about it as I write this review. Kudos to the chef for making it so good-- made with Gruyère, garlic crostini and lots of Swiss cheese. I love that the soup was NOT salty. And yes, I ordered a second bowl! I started off eating/drinking my food and this is/was a stand out for me. I'm picky with soup so when I get one that impresses me, then I do back flips. It was worth the $15 per bowl, and worth the tip. When I'm done writing this review, I'm going to get some more onion soup. ( Restaurant seems less busy on Sunday Eve so you'll get more server attention). Shout out to the chef and servers.
