I went to Daphne with friends for a birthday brunch. This truly was not good value for money, and it felt like another establishment where you pay for the decor. There’s a strong misalignment between their positioning and the food served. We ordered: French toast, cured salmon & eggs Benedict. I give a rating of: 3/5 (I would’ve done 2.5 if I could) Service: our waitress was lovely and welcoming, however the service was unreasonably slow for brunch. The establishment offered a lovely attention, gifting a tasty birthday treat at the end of the service. Ambience: this is a wonderful establishment. It is large, spacious and beautifully designed. It’s not too loud, and it’s cozy. The tones are inviting and the decor is modern chic. Unfortunately, ambience alone doesn’t carry the experience. Food: The portions are too small and the dishes are too unsophisticated to justify the prices. I ordered the eggs Benedict + cured salmon ($34). The house-made biscuit was dry, it was lacking in salt and I had to ask for lemon/lime to add some acidity. The meal was better with the enhancements I had to make. At such a price point, I’d expect the food to not require as much intervention/tweaking. We also had the cured salmon to share ($24) which was good. Again, I was expecting more of and from the dish. It was beautifully plated but small and not rich enough in flavor to my liking. We were initially planning on ordering more food but upon seeing what some dishes looked like on reviews, we made better informed decisions. Drinks: We ordered mimosas which felt extremely watered down. They were served in a thick-stemmed/casual glass which again is a subtle contradiction against the upscale aesthetic of the restaurant.

We recently visited Daphne in Toronto, a cozy yet classy restaurant offering brunch, lunch, dinner, and happy hour. The space is beautifully designed, complete with a spacious patio tucked away in the back. Their brunch menu features a great mix of sweet and savoury dishes, all perfect for sharing. Our server was incredibly kind and made us feel so welcome, checking in on us throughout our meal. She even surprised us with a complimentary dessert after we mentioned it was my birthday—such a thoughtful touch that made the experience even more special. We ordered their eggs Benedict, pancakes, cured salmon and a side of hash brown. Overall, everything we ordered was delicious. The eggs Benedict was cooked to perfection, with perfectly poached eggs and a rich, velvety hollandaise that tied everything together beautifully. The blueberry pancakes were incredibly light and fluffy, studded with juicy blueberries and just the right amount of sweetness. I’ll definitely be coming back next time to try their dinner menu.

I celebrated a friends birthday here after hearing rave reviews online about Daphne. We had requested a booth near their iconic green walls for this special occasion however we were sat right at the entrance. It was cold out so every time the door opened/closed a gust of wind would blow straight at us. Besides that, the service was great. We told someone that we were celebrating a birthday and it took a long time for them to come out with the complimentary dessert - so long that we thought they weren’t offering it at all. The branzino was the standout of this meal for me. The sauce was excellent. The lobster pasta was a crowd favourite. The octopus was not memorable, and the pizza was just okay; not great. I don’t like beef tartare so I can’t comment on that. The violette martini was delicious- would recommend. The coconut cream pie did not taste much like coconut but it was a very lovely and appreciated touch to our meal. Overall a nice experience, would recommend to others but not sure if I would personally be back. I am glad I finally got to try it though!

The ambience truly lives up to the hype — the dining room theme, decor, and overall atmosphere are top tier. The space is beautifully designed and made for a memorable experience. Unfortunately, the food did not match the setting. Both mains were underwhelming and lacked flavour. I had the prime rib, and my spouse had the fish — neither dish stood out, and both were nearly tasteless. While I don’t expect homemade in a restaurant, it was hard not to feel like we could have prepared better versions ourselves. The appetizers were the one highlight on the food side — they had noticeable seasoning and were the most enjoyable part of the meal. If we were to return, we’d likely skip the mains and order a few starters instead. Our waiter was excellent — attentive, friendly, and professional. That said, we were repeatedly interrupted by other staff members who were not assigned to our table. While I understand teamwork, the constant interruptions felt intrusive and disrupted the flow of the evening. On a positive note, the wine list was impressive with plenty of great options, and we enjoyed our selection. Service from our actual waiter was strong, and the bar clearly puts care into their beverage program. Overall, a stunning room and solid wine list, but the kitchen needs to step up — especially at this price point and for special occasions.

Everyone mentions how good the food and service is, which I completely agree with and have nothing more to add. However, I'd like to shine an additional light on their communications team: planning dinner for a large group event was so easy thanks to their clear and rapid responses. They had a variety of set menus and made accommodating some of our diners' dietary restrictions hassle free. I wish they'd packed more than the four small slices of rib eye when I asked for the leftovers, because there was so much food remaining from the family style meal. So make sure you're clear about that when asking to take any delicious leftovers home. Overall, would recommend Daphne for large group events.
