I recently ordered the brisket mashed bowl again and noticed that the ingredients have been changed, and some other items seem to have been removed from the menu as well. I’m not sure why the changes were made, but unfortunately the bowl I received this time was very different from the last time I ordered it a while ago. The brisket meat was hard and dry and cut in cubes instead of shredded brisket, and the overall flavour just wasn’t the same as before. The previous version was much better and more enjoyable. I didn’t like the new version and was honestly disappointed with the quality compared to what it used to be.

I have eaten here a handful of times now, and tried an array of dishes (brisket bowl, jerk chicken torta, pupusas, Mac and cheese). Every dish I’ve had has been absolutely delicious and packed with flavour.

What a great place! Food was fantastic! Dennis the owner was so friendly and service was fabulous. We tried the Brisket sandwich, the Cubano sandwich, the Lamb bowl and Mac and Cheese. I could not find a bad thing to say about any of the food. We didn't take many pictures because we devoured the food too quickly! We will definitely be back. We are always looking for and happy to support local businesses, and also looking forward to seeing your pop ups in the future. Advice: Go early before they sell out :)

D&D's BBQ is an absolute gem! I'd been hearing great things and finally had a chance to stop in. The brisket sandwich was incredible—tender and smoky, just what I was hoping for. But what really blew me away was the unexpected variety. The papusas were a delightful surprise, and the jerk chicken tacos had a perfect kick. The quality is top-notch, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every plate. Plus, I learned that almost everything on the menu can be served gluten-free, which is fantastic for people with dietary needs. Highly recommend!

This was my first visit to CHAR’D and I wish I had set my expectations differently. I love BBQ. I love the smoke and char and sauce. I love a good sauce. The environment was what I expected. I think my expectations were even a bit higher based on the small operation. Staff provided great service. The place was busy (lunchtime) but they handled it like pros. I ordered 3 sandwiches as I wanted to try them all. A brisket, pork shoulder and jerk chicken. They were all much smaller than I expected. It’s a round bun like a McDonalds cheeseburger bun. The meat and toppings were a good portion for the sandwich size! First thing that struck me was that there was no sauce. No BBQ sauce. There was cold slaws and aoli’s and the jerk had veg. I don’t feel the flavours of the these toppings enhanced the sandwiches. They tasted different, and not better. I appreciate that the meat is star of the show and not covered up by a sauce that may not live up to the meat. But since they were offering their BBQ meats in a variety of different ways (mashed potato bowls and tacos), a traditional one with BBQ sauce would have appealed to me more. Each sandwich was about $13 and I didn’t feel I got value for what I spent. Small sandwich. The meat was cooked really well and I’d recommend this place to anyone that is less saucy than me 🙂
